Myra offers prime breeding and backgrounding in coveted Central Queensland region

Well-developed cattle breeding and backgrounding property, “Myra”, offers the opportunity to gain a foothold in Central Queensland’s prestigious Isaac region, coveted by cattle producers for its favourable climate, fertile soil types and access to markets.

Carrying capacity on the 14,574-hectare property is conservatively estimated at 4,500 adult equivalents (AE), and the property features approximately 11,897ha of developed gidgee and brigalow with melonholes, 1,110ha alluvial flats and 507ha of ironbark and rosewood, along with extensive developed and improved pastures.

In addition to annual rainfall of 587mm, Myra has an abundance of natural water resources including dual frontage to the Myra, Sullivan and Nibbereena Creeks, plus nine catchment dams equipped with extensive water reticulation infrastructure, as well as numerous waterholes.

Significant capital has been invested in land class development across the property over the past 20 years, including blade ploughing of 3,237ha and clearing and re-pulling the majority of unrestricted vegetation, which makes up 91% of the property.

“Myra offers the full package – extensive permanent water, established productive pastures and excellent infrastructure, making it a powerhouse property in a region renowned for its quality cattle,” LAWD Director, Grant Veivers, said.

Soils across Myra comprise a productive mix of brown, black or grey cracking clays and red or brown hard-setting loamy or texture contrast soils. They support dense stands of buffel grass and areas of improved pastures including bambatsi, rhodes grass, amiga stylo, butterfly pea, seca stylo, omega and burgundy bean.

Livestock water is supplied via 50mm and 63mm pipelines which connect to two tanks, 12 turkeys’ nests and 35 troughs across the property.

The property benefits from quality fencing which divide the property into 24 main paddocks, eight holding paddocks and nine holding squares. To ensure efficient mustering and droving of cattle to both sets of yards, more than 23km of laneways have been installed across the holding.

The main cattle yards have capacity for 2,000 head and are equipped with an Immobilizer vet crush with Gallagher scales and covered working area, a Morrissey calf race and cradle in a covered working area, seven-way pound with crow’s nest control platform, and water troughs throughout. The steel and timber homestead cattle yards have 600-head capacity, a CIA crush with two-way draft in front, a single-deck loading ramp and six-way pound draft.

Accommodation for owners and staff includes the main homestead, a manager’s house, and two sets of staff quarters. The main homestead of 436sqm is surrounded by lawns, gardens and established trees, and features four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, lounge and dining room, office, laundry, verandah and patio, as well as a 75sqm carport, split system and evaporative air-conditioning and four 25,000L water tanks.

The manager’s homestead of 280sqm comprises four bedrooms, two bathrooms with a kitchen, lounge and dining room, laundry, enclosed verandah and front and rear porch, with split-system air-conditioning and three 25,000L water tanks. Two transportable donga units make up the staff quarters, one comprises self-contained, one-bedroom accommodation with air-conditioning, bathroom, kitchenette, living area and verandah. The second features a new skillion roof overhead with three bedrooms, one toilet bathroom and an open communal area.

Operational improvements include a 228sqm workshop which has a 6.48kW solar panel system mounted on the roof with lighting throughout and two 25,000L water tanks, as well as a 412sqm machinery shed, 270sqm hay shed and 150sqm fully enclosed workshop with concrete floor and additional skillion roof carport.

Myra is strategically located in the Isaac region of Central Queensland, 84km* west of Moranbah, 126km* north of Clermont and 295km* south west of Mackay. Moranbah provides retail, financial, medical and educational services (primary and secondary) and a regional airport. Agricultural services can be accessed at Clermont or higher-level services are available in Mackay.

Myra is being offered for sale by Expression of Interest closing at 12pm (AEST) Thursday 19 June 2025.
